Matthew Crawley Artist, Shattered Light Shade ,1977-78.

Explain away:
Shattered Light Shade is a drawing Crawley completed during a 2nd year Art class at comprehensive school in 1977. The drawing is evidently a study of a broken fluorescent fitting that, if we assume is from the room, would be ordinarily lighting the scene for the drawing activity itself to take place. The work not only talks of prophecy but also of natural disorder and inevitability. One could say this was a broken lightbulb moment for the young Artist.
